Then and Now

Then: If you can do it, I can do it better.

Now :If you can do it, then I can learn from you and therefore I can do it too.

Then: If we are meant to be then we will end up together no matter how far our paths take us.

Now: There is no mean to be. If you want it to work with someone then you will take the steps to make it work. Vice versa for the other party.

Then: Why is it taking so long for me to get older so I can be an adult.

Now: Why is time going by so fast now that I am an adult. Why can’t time slow down.

Then: I want to be like her.

Now: I accept who I am, I accept every flaw, every beauty I am. I am happy with being myself. I am thankful for that.

Then: I hope they like me. I hope I get their approval.

Now: Their opinion is their opinion. I do not need their approval for my self happiness. Someone will always have something to say. At the end of the day it is my life.

Reflecting on myself, I have come a long way. I have grown a lot in the past 2 years. I still have a lot to learn. No one is perfect. I want to continue to love myself and commit to developing myself. Sometimes it’s hard to change our mindset because we are so use to how we think. That’s okay, all you need is the will to want to change. Therefore your already starting to change. Learn stuff that can’t be taught in school. Read a book on self development. Read a book on how to get out of debt. Engage with others that are already at that mindset. Step outside of your norm and fill yourself with more. Fill yourself with life. Do not limit yourself to a daily routine, 8 hour shifts with a crappy boss that makes you feel like you deserve a higher pay because you are more valuable then that. Life is too valuable to not live it to its fullest potential.

  1. This was such a beautiful post. I like how you compared your old and new thoughts. Mine also mimic yours in some way. It’s interesting how perspective changes everything! You’re right life is too valuable to ever limit ourselves. Thanks for sharing 🙂
